Harmony Web Family Day Care Software delivers numerous benefits to both Services and Educators.

Coffs Harbour Family Day Care, involved in the Harmony Web pilot testing for FDC Services in 2015, has praised the software and moved to pilot testing the Educator version with a select group of Educators.

Harmony Web Family Day Care Software delivers welcomed benefits

“Our staff and Educators and management committee have embraced the fact we’ve been a pilot service and now permanently functioning on web based Harmony from a Service point of view,” said Business Manager, Janet Coleman. “We were interested to see how it was going to look. We wanted to be a service that was going to ask enough questions on behalf of everybody else. We like to work out how and why things happen and make sure calculations happen correctly. So it was an interesting process for us to apply to be a pilot site and we were very happy to be accepted,” she said.

According to Janet, “We’re still in early stages of web-based Harmony but already we can see the benefits of not having to back up data – it’s automatically backed up. We don’t have any issues that our server is not working in the morning when we come in so the Educators and staff can access data in relation to children and families. All the queries in relation to children’s enrolment and queries in relation to attendances is automatically done for us over night with the government CCB system. From an admin point of view, it has taken away a lot of headaches.”

Educators start with Electronic Timesheets

Educators at Coffs Harbour Family Day Care are now trialling the Educator Version to submit timesheets electronically as they look to move to a paperless environment.

“The timesheets for Educators are already pre-populated so Educators only have to go in and fill out the hours a child attended or whether or not they were absent. They are not having to spend their Sunday of the week before filling out the contracted hours for children who were in attendance,” said Janet. “It will save them having to do any other paper-based copies of attendances. They hit a submit button and it automatically comes through to our service.”

According to Educator, Sonya Meers, “Going to paper-less time sheets has been much better for me because it’s bringing sustainability into my service. I don’t have so much paper building up, especially on my desk at home. I find it easy to navigate around the system and the information is always accurate, including any changes overnight. There are other great features too, like shared cared and soon there will be electronic signatures.”

“It is quite exciting for Educators to be able to think that soon they will be able to do all their submissions online directly to us,” said Janet, noting this would be a reality once they moved to full roll-out and electronic signatures came online with the product.

Janet continued, “The greatest value for me as the business manager with the web based Harmony is that it does give me the tools to provide to staff so that they have access to the information they need at any time. When they are out visiting Educators or having to make contact with families. It’s that instant access and it’s also that instant access in the future that Educators are going to have to children’s enrolment details without having to go and sort through a child’s file. All of it will be available to them directly from web-based Harmony.”
